Values

Writing is thinking, and I want to think more clearly, by defining what my core values are. I am pretty confident about some of the ideas I want to defend, but without putting them on paper, I tend to have some strong internal contradictions. This is a compilation of the core thoughts I want my life to revolve around and I hope this exercise will help me become a better human being.

Anti-speciesism

All lives are equal. We, as humans, should strive not to harm any animal lives around us. The fact that we as a society decided to split the animal kingdom in different categories, that cats and dogs are our dearest friends while cows, chickens or pigs can be piled up in a huge hangar is a social construct that has no basis in nature.

Therefore, in our western society where animal products of all sorts are produced at the cost of great suffering, we should all choose to not participate in this system of exploitation by adopting veganism, which entails to follow a strictly plant-based diet and to not use animal parts, like leather, as raw material.

Anti-fascism and anti-authoritarianism

Following what I believe about anti-speciesism and the need to stop animal suffering and oppression, the same should apply to my fellow humans. Fascism and all authoritarian regimes are of course the antithesis of that.

Fascism is a form of totalitarian regime that wants the State to encompass every aspects of it's population's life, even it's spiritual life. Of course, this means removing every individuality, to destroy everything that is not inline with the State's goals. Everything in the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State. said Mussolini.

I believe that every person should be able to express their individuality, their queerness, without the society pushing them to follow some meaningless social construct.

I believe that power should be in the hands of the People, not in the hands of an elite that thinks that they are meant to rule us based on their sphere of influence or their bank account and that we should redistribute wealth to combat poverty.

Different meanings have been given for the three arrows. I view it as the symbol of opposition towards fascism, authoritarianism and capitalism.

Tech-fascism

We are seeing a new form of fascism appear since the beginning of the 21th century, tech-fascism.

Contrary to 20th century's facism, fascists of the tech industry, mostly based in the Silicon Valley, are using the enormous wealth they acquired since the dot com bubble to fulfill their prophecy that democracy is a cancer, that the State is a system that is not working anymore and that society as we know it will soon collapse, leaving the opportunity for the rise of a network of tech city states, ruled with an iron fist by the tech corporation freed from the interference of the State.

to write
