Now
The /now page is a concept popularized by Derek Sivers to help centralize what people are doing on a single web page, outside of any social media feed. Read more about it.
Leaving Big Tech
I plan to progressively leave all of GAFAM's services. This will be a long process, as I've been using some services for almost 2 decades now, like Gmail.
For hardware, I dual booted my Desktop on the latest Fedora KDE. I'm keeping Windows 11 for now to ease the transition with my SO. My laptop is an old Thinkpad T480 with the same Fedora KDE. For my phone, I've decided to not use a dumb phone but to keep a smartphone to facilitate communication with my family in France (I'm living in Canada). I recently replaced my dying old Iphone with a new Google Pixel 10 and plan to install Graphene OS on it.
For services, I subscribed to Tuta Mail, a Germany based company, and I want to slowly transfer from Gmail to Tuta in the following months.
Building this website
The Odin language is reaching 1.0 January 2027 and it looks like the perfect time to learn it. I'm building a simple Static Site Generator, tailored just for my needs, that I plan to slowly improve as my needs change for this website. You can check the code on this Gitlab repository but I warn you that this is quick and durty code.
I want this website to not require Javascript to run, to be lightweight and fully accessible to everyone. There also won't be any form of analytics.
Parts of my inspirations are XXIIVV by Devine Lu Linvega, Ritual Dust by Lizbeth Poirier and Plastic Idolatry by Eiríkr Åsheim, all members of the Mastodon instance Merveilles.town
